Position Summary

UNM Geography and Environmental Studies is seeking candidates for Temporary Part-Time Adjunct Faculty to teach Geography and Environmental Studies such as Introduction to Maps & Geospatial Information during Spring 2018 semester.

The Department of Geography is committed to the advancement and dissemination of "spatial thinking"
to citizens of New Mexico and beyond. Our vision is to be regionally and nationally recognized for excellence in research and teaching in our two areas of concentration: Environmental Management and Geographic Information Science.

We are currently recruiting for Adjunct Faculty to teach various Geography and Environmental Studies curriculum. More detailed course information can be found in the UNM University

These positions involve:

Developing and conducting classroom activities,including lectures, audio-visual materials, group discussions, laboratory assignments, and other educational practices for the classroom.

Developing lesson plans and other guides required to meet the goal of training and leading students in their field of study.

Developing and implementing evaluation plans to demonstrate learning outcomes.

Assessment of student outcomes for courses and programs.Maintaining statistical records/data of student
proficiency and attendance and other records consistent with course objectives and college policies.Adjunct

Faculty are required to hold two office hours per course per week and may participate in departmental meetings


1. Master's Degree or higher in the discipline or sub-field for which you are applying.


2. A master's degree or higher in a discipline related to but other than that for which you are applying, and successful completion of of at least 18 graduate credit hours in an accredited program in the discipline or sub-field for which you are applying.

Preferred Qualifications:
1. Two years professional experience in the appropriate discipline or sub-field.

2. Successful teaching experience in post-secondary institution.

3. A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities.
