Position Summary

The UNM-Gallup Center for Academic Learning (CAL) offers free academic support for all enrolled full-time and part-time UNM-Gallup students. The center provides academic tutoring services in a variety of disciplines, such as reading, writing, math, and science. CAL collaborates with university personnel to ensure that students meet course and assignment expectations effectively and independently.

This position facilitates student-focused support in various disciplines in math and science through tutoring in one-on-one or group settings. The position contributes to student retention, completion, and success through programs and activities. Participates in the overall administration of the tutoring program for the unit.

Conditions of Employment
  • This position is represented by a labor union and is subject to the terms and conditions of the USUNM Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Minimum Qualifications

Successful completion of at least 60 college-level credit hours; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math).
  • Demonstrate broad knowledge and proficiency in math and science concepts.
  • Prior mentoring, and/or teaching experiences.
  • Prior experience in managing daily operations and administrative tasks of an educational program or office setting.
  • Experience with diverse learning styles.
  • Demonstrate good interpersonal skills.
Additional RequirementsThis position will require a pre-employment criminal background check. Future and/or continued employment in the position is contingent upon obtaining and maintaining a satisfactory background check, which is one that does not include any disqualifying findings.
