Has 24-hour accountability for the quality and efficiency of the department’s nursing care. Responsible for maintaining staffing within the productivity standard and when variances occur he/she investigates contributing factors. Is responsible for the performance improvement planning and monitoring for the department.

Under the direction of the Cardiovascular Service Line Director, the Cath lab Manager ensures the delivery of quality patient care within the assigned service area; serves as a leader, clinical resource and assists with problem solving and communication. The Manager is responsible for daily management of the cath lab and noninvasive cardiology departments (Stress lab, Echo, EKG) and other future cardiology areas as CVSL expands. The Cardiology Manager is responsible for the overall quality, financial, customer service and daily operations of the departments. The Cath lab Manager circulates and/or scrubs to relieve for lunches as needed as determined by caseload and staffing demands.


Cardiology Services provides non-invasive diagnostic testing and invasive diagnostic and interventional procedures to diagnose and treat patient’s with known or suspected coronary artery disease, unstable angina, valvular disease, dysrhythmia, congestive heart failure, ST/nonST elevation MI, and peripheral vascular disease.


The Cardiology Department hours are from 7:00am-5:00pm. Invasive Cardiology is available 24/7 with on-call coverage.

Our Safe and Ready program consists of a rigorous [five-point] standard ensuring patient safety, confidence and convenience:

  • Expanded hours will allow previously cancelled procedures to be scheduled as quickly as possible.
  • Any COVID-19 related care takes place in designated areas away from other patients and their families.
  • Emergency Departments are reorganized to be a safe place to treat all emergency patients.
  • A stringent cleaning policy has been implemented throughout the hospital.
  • A strictly controlled visitor and masking policy is required for patient safety.

Identifies risks and hazards to patients through various risk assessments, with actions taken to mitigate patient harm.

Advocates for patient rights while supporting regulatory standards.

Champions the reduction of hospital acquired conditions through improved compliance with patient safety bundles and/or other formal performance improvement programs.

Makes appropriate and timely decisions, considering patient safety and facility needs.

Monitors and trends Performance Improvement activities and makes suggestions for improvements as needed. Appropriately involves the nursing staff in this process. Listen to and honor patient and family perspectives and choices.

Acknowledge the patient’s and family’s knowledge, values, beliefs, and cultural backgrounds to ensure they are incorporated into the planning and delivery of care.

Communicate and share complete and unbiased information with the patients and families in ways that are affirming and useful.

Maintains competency and knowledge of current standards of practice, trends, and developments. Enhances the patient experience by fostering a positive relationship with customers. Contributes to improving HCAHPS results.

Promotes stewardship of hospital resources while ensuring quality patient care.

Maintains staffing within productivity standards and investigates variances and reports findings in a timely fashion. Adjusts staffing for acuity and unusual situations.

Licensed as a Registered Nurse accepted by Texas State Board of Nursing to engage in professional nursing

Current License issued by Texas Department of Health, AART or Certified in RCIS is an added plus.

A minimum of 3-5 years in cath lab management experience.
Technical, clerical, critical thinking and interpersonal skills relevant to patient care/area.
Certification required as defined by the certification policy.
Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.


Baccalaureate degree or progression to this degree.
National Certification as recognized by the American Nurses Credentialing Center within three years of appointment

Previous leadership experience.
Bi or Multilingual.
