Performs a variety of duties to repair and maintain hospital machinery and mechanical equipment. Oversees work of lower level machinists. Reports to Manager of Engineering Services.
High school diploma or equivalent required; Certification and/or journeyman’s license required. Associate’s degree from vocational or trade school preferred. Three years experience in electrical, plumbing or HVAC skills.
1.This position requires a License and Certified person to work on Utility, Life Safety and Critical Care electrical systems.
2.This position is responsible for all in-house renovation projects, both, in the main hospital and tenant lease spaces.
3.Currently we have one electrician on staff. When he is out on PTO, we have to rely on an outside vendor to make any required repairs. This requires us to reassign staff to assist the contractor for the following reasons
•Not familiar with the hospitals electrical systems
•Not familiar with the building layout
•Not familiar with the locations of electrical equipment or distribution systems
•Currently were are testing 10 Emergency Generators monthly under load to comply with CMS, Joint Commission and NFPA Standards. Both electricians preform this test monthly without the use of outside sources.
Hope I stated earlier that we would require outside contractors 20 hours a week. I believe we would require the services of an outside contractor for 40 hours. With the amount of facilities, on this campus, north campus and the buildings across 1-55 north, its too much for one electrician.
