  • Overview

    The primary focus of position is to maintain inventory and quality assurance of product. This position requires daily counting of inventory, with accuracy and timeliness being paramount. This is a highly dynamic environment and flexibility and sound judgment are the keys to success.

    Must be willing to work in various climate conditions and work well with others. Ensure that all products entering and leaving the warehouse facility are of high quality, through inspection and date management of merchandise.


    • Quality Assurance
      • Product Inspection
        • Inspect inbound perishable products for quality.
        • Communicate any and all quality issues, concerns, observations to buyers, category managers, and/or shippers.
        • Call Federal Inspectors to inspect produce received when the quality is in question. Federal inspector determines if the produce can be received.
        • Prepare Federal inspection records for produce buyers or shippers as needed, when quality of merchandise is questioned.
    • Maintain inventory accuracy utilizing exception and preventative control methods
      • Cycle Counting
        • Verify physical inventory counts of products through cycle counts of assigned aisles utilizing warehouse management system.
        • Researching and adjusting large inventory discrepancies of counts after posting results.
      • Warehouse Exception Report
        • Verify physical inventory using the WMS cycle count system and warehouse exception report, inspecting each location to verify the stock is out.
        • Enter appropriate inventory transaction(s) to correct inventory, as needed.
      • Warehouse Short Report
        • Verify physical inventory using the warehouse short report, inspecting each location to verify the stock is out.
        • Research inventory system to ensure transactions have been entered timely and accurately.
        • Enter appropriate inventory transaction(s) to correct inventory, as needed.
      • Inventory Negative Report
        • Monitor negative inventory and ensure it is researched and corrected on a timely basis
      • Inventory Management
        • Make suggestions to management about possible solutions to out-of-stock inventory, damages, and all discrepancies.
        • Participate in sessions to identify inventory issues and resolutions.
    • Food Safety and regulatory compliance
        • Adhere to quality compliance programs and specifications including HACCP, FDA, etc.
        • Complete quality assurance processes and systems, as needed, for Corrective Actions and Recalls.
        • Perform weekly calibration of hand-held thermometers to ensure accurate temperature readings.
    • Other duties as assigned


    • On the Job Experience:
      • 1 years of experience in food distribution industry, preferred.
      • 1 years of product quality experience, preferred.
      • 2 years of produce experience, preferred.
      • 2 years of inventory control, preferred.
    • Interpersonal Skills - Must be able to work with multiple types of personalities in a fast-paced work environment.
    • High School diploma or equivalent required.
    • HACCP and ServSafe Certification preferred.
