Position Summary:

Calibr, a division of Scripps Research is a not-for profit research institute located in La Jolla, California. Calibr is focused on innovative early stage translational research in the areas of regenerative medicine, cancer biology, cardiovascular and metabolic disease, immunology and infectious disease.
Position Overview:
We are seeking a talented Research Assistant to join a dynamic, interdisciplinary team of scientists focused on early stage translational research. Chemists in the medicinal chemistry group will work as part of a team of scientists to synthesize and characterize small molecules that represent new therapeutic approaches to unmet medical needs.

Position Description

Under general supervision, independently and in collaboration with others, perform research for projects; may provide interpretation and initial analysis of results; may investigate, troubleshoot and modify methods and procedures; may assist in designing experiments; perform other related duties, tasks and responsibilities as required or assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

BSc. or Masters in chemistry
1-3 years’ experience in a medicinal chemistry role
Proven track record of organic synthesis and the ability to optimize reactions in a timely manner
Strong skills and a proven track record in synthetic organic chemistry, compound purification, and structural characterization
Profound literature search skills, the ability to design and improve synthetic routes to support SAR studies and deliver compound in large scale in timely manner
Highly motivated, creative, and able to maintain excellent documentation of their work
Able to collaborate proficiently and communicate effectively with colleagues and management teams

Preferred Qualifications:

Strong skills and a proven track record in synthetic organic chemistry, compound purification, and structural characterization.
Translation of projects into clinical assets.
