  • Overview

    The Business Development Manager – CLS will review and negotiate deal structures for commercial lending to automotive dealerships, including floorplan, construction and permanent real estate loans, capital loans, revolving lines of credit, and equipment loans. Develops product promotion strategies, provides dealer support, and sales operations training. Provides guidance and strategy for meeting department objectives. Additionally, this position will contribute to building brand value and achieving enduring profitable growth.



    • Assists in integrating new financing programs into organization (systems, reporting, dealers, sales, marketing, and dealer support)
    • Manages competitive intelligence for pricing and product features
    • Manages commercial lending system strategies and implementation thereof
    • Maintains business development policies, procedures and reporting
    • Hires, coaches/mentors business development analysts
    • Develops relationships with GM Financial Sales staff and GM Zone staff
    • Develops and implements strategy for field sales support; contact for new credit requests
    • Perform other duties as assigned
    • Conform with all corporate policies and procedures



    • Understanding of commercial lending with emphasis in captive automotive dealership financing
    • Understanding of dealer operations
    • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
    • Knowledge of dealership, fleet/commercial and indirect auto finance industry operations
    • Extensive knowledge of wholesale floorplan and commercial loan documentation, program design, pricing, insurance and company compliance
    • Working knowledge of uniform commercial code (UCC), state-specific lending regulations and commercial real estate credit practices
    • Knowledge of credit underwriting
    • Knowledge of company policies and procedures
    • Knowledge of accounting, financial statement analysis, cash flow and dealer workout

    • Bachelor’s Degree in related field or equivalent experience in commercial automotive finance industry required


    • 3-5 years of directly related professional level experience in an automotive commercial lending environment, including experience in creating and presenting ideas to executive management required
    • 2-4 years in a management role, providing leadership, coaching, guidance and training and contributing to staff development preferred

    Working Conditions

    • High energy and fast-paced office subject to stressful situations
    • Some travel may be necessary
    • Work schedule may include some nights, weekends, or holidays
