Tribal Driving Permit Required: YesDISTINGUSIHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS:The Veterans and Family Services Of?ce Coordinator is responsible for managing the implementation, critical
and direct oversight, and regulatory process for Veterans Affairs bene?ts. The Coordinator performs
administrative and professional work in directing, planning, training, and managing the staff of the Veterans and
Family Services Of?ce (VFSO). The Coordinator works in close coordination with federal, state, and county
veteran of?ces and nation and local service organizations to develop local and national policies regarding
veteran’s bene?ts.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
0 Plan, organize, coordinate, and direct the daily activities of the Veterans and Family Services Of?ce.
0 Train, supervise, and evaluate the performance of all assigned staff.
0 Develop and implement a ?ve-year plan for the Veterans and Family Services Of?ce, determine its goals and
objectives, and monitor the progress in achieving the goals and objectives.
0 Complete programmatic reporting accurately and on-time.o Create policies and standard operating procedures for the Veterans and Family Services Of?ce to ensure the
of?ce is fully trained and veterans’ claims are being processed timely and correctly.
0 Supervise the safekeeping of of?ce records, including compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and
Accountability Act (HIPAA) and any other privacy requirements, and develop a retention policy and
standards.
0 Develop an of?ce budget and operate the Veterans and Family Services Of?ce within the budgetary
guidelines.
0 Act as the liaison between the Community and federal, state, and county veteran’s of?ce.
0 Present recommendations to Executive Of?ce, and federal, state, and local agencies regarding veteran
services.
0 Serve as back-up for Veterans and Family Services Of?ce staff.
0 Perform other related duties as assigned.REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY:0 Extensive knowledge of laws, rules, regulations which includes federal, state, and local statues relating to
veteran’s affairs and public assistance programs.
0 Ability to analyze problems, identify alternative solutions, project consequences of proposed actions, and
implement recommendations in support of the Veterans and Family Services Office goals.
0 Knowledge of modern principles and practices of administrating and organization, including general
budgeting and management principles and practices.
0 Skill in determining priorities, assigning work, and following through for proper completion.
0 Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in written form.
0 Ability to interact with of?cials, veterans, dependents, and other fairly and effectively, this position must
maintain a proper working relationship with clients, may who have complex physical and mental health issues
and come from diverse ethnic and economic backgrounds.
0 Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associate and the general public.
0 Ability to perform all physical requirements of the position, agree to maintain a drug-free workplace.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Social Sciences, Business Administration, Public
Administration, Social Work, or closely related field and a minimum of three (3) years of experience in Veterans
Affairs, Social Services or any combination of education, training, and/or experience which demonstrates the
ability to perform the duties of this position and which includes one (1) year supervisory experience.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be a veteran with an honorable discharge or spouse of an honorably discharged veteran.Must obtain HIPAA Certi?cation within 90 days of employment.Required to obtain a Tribal Driving permit. Valid state driver’s license with a current proof of driving record for
the past 39 months will be required to qualify for a tribal driving permit. Proof of driving record must be
submitted with application and must not be more than 60 days old from the date of submission of the
application.Required to pass a background check.Supervisory, Salaried Position
