DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS:
The Archaeological Aide is part of an on-the-j ob training program designed by the Cultural Resource
Management Program of the Gila River Indian Community to assist Community members in acquiring basic
skills in the archaeological ?eld and laboratory techniques. Training consists of classroom, ?eld and laboratory
instruction. This position participates in aspects of archaeological monitoring, survey and excavation projects.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
0 Assist in surveying and excavation prehistoric and historic archaeologist sites.
0 Assist in keeping track of ?eld equipment, ?lling out vehicle maintenance forms, and reporting to supervisor
when equipment needs repair.
0 Carry out assigned tasks on a regular and consistent basis.
0 Participate in classroom, laboratory and ?eld training to increase knowledge about archaeology and improve
basicjob skills.
0 Perform other related duties as assigned.REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY:General knowledge of prehistoric and historic artifacts.Ability to perform basic arithmetic calculations.Ability to communicate effectively and follow oral and written instructions.Ability to ?ll out relevant ?eld forms.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, Community Of?cials
and the general public.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING: High School diploma or GED.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Community member is preferred since this is an entry-level position.Must be at least 18 years of age.Non- Supervisory, Hourly Position
