POSITION SUMMARY: Senior Category Manager work out of CVS Hawaii Longs Drugs Merchandising and Marketing department in Kapolei, Hawaii and will lead assigned merchandise categories and the respective P&L. Senior Category managers have a full scope of responsibility for attaining budgeted sales, gross margin, and building market share within their category. Overall, this position will be responsible for achieving the Merchandising objectives as they relate to the CVS Health and Longs Drugs Strategic plan.

Core duties/responsibilities include:

* Lead the promotional and seasonal merchandise categories team.
* Maintain vendor relationships, negotiates pricing and other vendor terms
* Analyze and determine optimal sourcing solutions for product lines.
* Review buy-plans and establish parameters to buy at the appropriate cost levels that will drive targeted gross margin goals
* Determine merchandise allocations and partner with distribution and suppliers to ensure a proper flow of product to stores.
* Maintain knowledge of competitor practices. Regularly "shop" or stores and meet with retail management and staff for feedback
* Works with advertising and procurement to ensure accurate print ads.
* Ensures merchandise marketing plans and goals are executed in accordance to agreed plans and objectives.

Required Qualifications
REQUIRED SKILLS: In order of importance, list specific skills or talents that a qualified incumbent should possess (i.e., management of large staff, computer applications, subject knowledge, etc.)

* 2 or more years of retail management experience and two or more years of merchandising buying/planning experience
* Experience with purchasing or merchandise planning for a drug store or grocery chain.
* Knowledge of various purchasing agreement arrangements and contracts
* Strong organizational skills
* Solid negotiating skills

Preferred Qualifications
* Presentation skills and excellent verbal and written communication required
* Good PC application skills and ability to learn new systems quickly
