Special Events and Development Internship
Children’s Bureau (, a 114-year-old nonprofit leader in the prevention and treatment of child abuse and neglect, is looking for an intern in its Development Department.

Fall-Winter-Spring 2018
15 – 20 hours per week as workload necessitates. This position reports to the Associate Director of Special Events.

Special Events:

  • The League for Children 32nd Annual Gala (September 29, 2018)
  • Blue Tie Gala (November 3, 2018)
  • The Angelic Auxiliary’s Carnival at the Pier (March 3, 2019)
  • Vice Chairmen’s Golf Event (May 2019)
  • 38th President’s Invitational Golf Tournament (May 21, 2019)
  • Children's Bureau Summer Soirée (June 8, 2019)
  • Family Nights and Holiday Events (Year Round)

Special Events Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Assist with overall production of events as instructed by the Special Events Managers.
2. Assist with event logistics i.e. printing, silent auction, raffle, mailings, etc. of all fundraising and non-fundraising events
3. Assist with committee meeting materials and follow up
4. Assist in the stewardship of all donors
5. Maintains event records including files, in-kind donations, etc.
6. Performs other related duties as assigned
7. Outreach to media sources, update media list, prepare media kits, assist photographer, post event updates on social networking sites.

Position Requirements:

  • Excellent word processing and database management skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel and Raiser’s Edge is a plus
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and professional demeanor
  • Detail-oriented
  • Positive attitude and thrives in a team environment
  • Knowledge of social networking sites
  • Must be able to attend special events as assigned
  • A car is desirable

Children’s Bureau’s headquarters is located just west of downtown Los Angeles, near the USC campus.
Any child can fall victim to abuse, however, living in poverty can perpetuate it even more so. About 92% of the 40,000 children and parents we serve annually throughout Los Angeles and Orange Counties live at or below the poverty level. Children’s Bureau’s goal is to improve the lives these children and families,

Children's Bureau’s mission is to protect vulnerable children through prevention (parenting classes, counseling, school readiness, family resource centers, ESL classes, health programs, financial workshops, etc.), treatment (foster care, adoption and mental health counseling) and advocacy.
