PRIMARY OBJECTIVE:

This position is responsible for Canadian and U.S. payroll and benefits administration. Accuracy and timeliness is essential to fulfill the duties within this role while developing positive relationships with field and office personnel.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following:

  • Maintains employee confidentiality and protect payroll data
  • Maintains payroll information by collecting, calculating and entering data
  • Keep accurate and up to date payroll records, including vacation and time off requests
  • Providing information about pay and benefits to new employees - New hire orientation
  • Experience administering 401K plans
  • Performing payroll related journal entries (full cycle payroll)
  • Register new employees for benefits with appropriate provider
  • Update and maintain all existing employees benefit information
  • Provide open communication with employees on payroll and benefit matters
  • Processing of Garnishments
  • Employment verification letters
  • Experience with audit & year-end processes preferred
  • Correspondence/responses for Government Agency requests for information
  • Update/maintain payroll orientation packages and payroll manual
  • Census updates to insurance and government agencies
  • Conduct payroll and HR orientations as required
  • Collect payroll information for Insurance and WCB audits
  • Other duties as determined from time to time

ABOUT THE INDIVIDUAL

  • CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) via the American Payroll Association and has 5 to 10 years experience
  • A minimum of intermediate knowledge in all Microsoft Office programs (including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and Internet Explorer
  • Exceptional communication and organizational skills
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Always approachable and professional in approach
  • An ability to prioritize is a must
  • Valid US Passport for travel to Canada
